Retro Recipes of The 1970s
Boogie down with our throwback ’70s cocktails
Harvey Wallbanger
A variant of the classic screwdriver, the Harvey Wallbanger was invented as part of a campaign to promote Galliano in the United States.
Ingredients
1¼ oz Shine Vodka
½ oz Galliano L’Autentico liqueur
3 oz fresh orange juice
Orange slice, for garnish
Maraschino cherry, for garnish
Steps
Stir Shine Vodka and orange juice into a tall glass with ice.
Using a bar spoon, carefully float the Galliano on top.
Garnish with orange slice and maraschino cherry.
White Russian
While the White Russian was one of the most prominent cocktails of the ’70s, its enduring popularity is actually attributed to its appearances in the hit 1998 film The Big Lebowski.
Ingredients
2 oz Shine Vodka
1 oz coffee liqueur (e.g., Kahlúa)
1 oz heavy cream
Steps
Pour Shine Vodka and coffee liqueur into an ice-filled rocks glass.
Top with heavy cream, stir, and enjoy.
Chi Chi
Like a Piña Colada sans rum, the Chi Chi is a tropical cocktail fit for the Tiki trends of the 1970s.
Ingredients
1½ oz Shine Vodka
4 oz pineapple juice
1 oz cream of coconut (we recommend Coco Lopez)
Pineapple slice, for garnish
Steps
In an ice-filled shaker, combine Shine Vodka, pineapple juice, and cream of coconut.
Shake vigorously until well-chilled and frothy.
Strain into a stemless wine glass packed with ice, then garnish with a pineapple slice.
